Reading, PA – May 7th, 2008 – The Reading Railers finished their inaugural season strong, finishing with an 11-9 record and going as far as the Easter Division Finals. Two players who were essential to the Railers success down the stretch were guard Tayron Thomas and forward Jared Mills. They were honored for their achievements by earning spots on the Premier Basketball League’s 2007-2008 Honor Roll.
Thomas, the team’s starting point guard out of Philadelphia University, made both the All-League First Team and the All-Playoff Team. He finished the regular season with 17.4 ppg and 5.7 apg. During Reading thrilling playoff run, Thomas made a consistent transition to the post-season, almost mirroring his season stats by scoring 17.3 points per game and dish out 6.3 rebounds per game.
Mills, the Railers’ starting forward, earned a spot on the All-League Third Team. Despite missing 6 games due to injury, impact on the team was felt as he averaged 15.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg throughout the season. Mills, a Reading Central Catholic grad and the PBL’s number one overall pick, was a key component to the second-half surge by the Railers.
