Rarely is a product reinvented. When it is done successfully, a group of business people have taken the initiative to analyze a particular market and product, learned from history the continued mistakes made in the market place, and designed a business model for success. This is the story of the PBL.

The PBL will begin play in 2007-2008 in at least 16 United States and Canadian markets. The league projects growth in the US and overseas for the year 2008 and beyond with innovative initiatives to bring both the PBL teams to overseas markets, as well as European and Asian teams to America to participate in PBL league play.

If there is one constant in professional basketball in the United States, it is that there is a plethora of talented basketball players. With a very limited number of player positions open each year in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and dwindling salaries for American players on European teams, the PBL intends to recruit the best non-NBA players in the world and showcase these young stars of tomorrow in a setting that will enable fans to become part of the experience, not only of the team in their community, but to see up close and personally the development of these young stars.

The combination of community-involved professional franchises with top-quality young players reaching out and touching the fans is a main part of the proper branding of the PBL product.

BASKETBALL: the very name is familiar and known worldwide, and the popularity of the sport in the global market continues to increase. Unfortunately, what has been forgotten at the professional level, by the owners of professional leagues and teams, is that the ultimate consumer for the sport is the fan, and, more specifically, the families that cheer for these teams. Professional basketball has made it cost-prohibitive for most of the American demographic to go to a game. And if a fan or consumer does get to go, the experience is at best forgettable and expensive.

On the minor league level, while leagues have paid lip service to affordable entertainment, the fan experience has not been what is promised. Enter the Premier Basketball League – the vision of a group of professional basketball franchises with proven success; and more, a business model and vision that will deliver professional basketball to consumers with unified team branding, state-of-the-art digital interaction, and a truly interactive game experience. The PBL brings back the “real” touch of the pro player, the “real” organization committed to community involvement, and a “real” minor league that recognizes the ultimate consumer of the product and delivers a product in an affordable, truly interactive manner.

The PBL also recognizes the opportunities for global interaction with the league. Through cutting-edge, state-of-the-art technology, the PBL will have the ability to deliver its product on both the hardwood courts and the digital universe. It is professional sports as it was 30 years ago, pure and real to the fans, with an understanding of current generations and technology, and a business model designed for profitability.

Each of the charter teams in the PBL will play 12 home games and 12 away games during the 2007-2008 season. The PBL’s brand of basketball is fully developed to provide a family-oriented entertainment solution. The ability for a family to come and experience a high-quality professional basketball game at a very affordable price is a product that is not currently being properly provided in the marketplace.

In addition to high-quality play at each PBL game, there will be focused and direct interaction with children from the local community. Each franchise will be required by the league to have minimum hours that each player commits to community involvement.

Much more than just a basketball game, a PBL game and franchise becomes a community experience resulting in the creation of passionate consumers in the most sought-after demographic throughout the U.S. and Canada. The competition for entertainment dollars from potential consumers is not with other major professional sports teams that may be in a nearby franchise area, but rather with other family entertainment experiences, such as movies or restaurants.
